Step-by-step guide

Step 1 — Check Instagram servers

Go to downdetector.com/status/instagram or search "Instagram down" on X/Twitter. If global issue, just wait.

Step 2 — Force close

Android: Settings → Apps → Instagram → Force stop. iPhone: double swipe up, swipe Instagram up.

Reopen.

Step 3 — Restart phone

Banal but effective. Solves memory and cache issues.

Step 4 — Update the app

Play Store or App Store → search Instagram → Update. Buggy versions are usually patched in 24-48 hours.

Step 5 — Clear cache (Android)

Settings → Apps → Instagram → Storage → Clear cache (NOT clear data).
